Village Tanuki
"I collected all the berries, but at what cost?"
A short game made for my internship program at Mojiken Studio, mojikencamp 2021 for around 3 weeks. I'm not the best at making games nor a great story teller, but I hope you had fun playing this and understood the message I wanted to convey.
Story
Village Tanuki is a narrative based, maze chase game.
You are playing as JUN, one of many tanukis (Japanese racoon dog) that works in a certain tanuki group in a forest. The group is infamous for their excellent job at foraging and distributing berries throughout other tanukis in the forest. Your job is to collect berries from human villages to please your boss. Can you do it?

This game is relatively easy to play, so you can relax and enjoy the story.

I really find this game cute and somewhat enjoyable. Collecting while avoiding enemies reminds me of Pac-man. I also love the message you are going for about knowing your own limitations and to not over work yourself. Loved it Tanuki/10

Um, I am moon walking
Although the length is short, the narrative got to me. It was something I could personally relate to. The gameplay is simple but ties well with the narrative. It is a little buggy, some of the hit detection of humans seems off and some dialog boxes don’t seem to open/trigger properly. But it was a small and sweet experience! Great job!

The story is good even though it's short, art is also good, the mechanic has plenty room for improvement. Overall the game is good.

I can't load the game. What should I do?
If you encounter a black screen at the beginning of the game then wait for a bit (might take long tho). Not sure why but it happened to me too when I first playing it on itch.io
